Payment, Reservations and Deposit

We collect payment before each tour. The exact amount is always appreciated.

Our tours do require reservations.

Reservations can be made using the “Book Now” button on each respective tour description page. Deposits are made via Paypal. It is secure and we have a very flexible cancellation policy – refunds are given only if cancellations are notified 48 hours before the commencement of the tour or if we need to cancel a scheduled tour.

Please note that, due to PayPal terms and conditions, for deposit payment made more than a month ago, there is an additional 5% PayPal admin fee to process your refund.

Why Reserve?

Reserving in advance won’t get you special status or access – but it just might help make the experience for everyone more enjoyable.

Reservations help us determine whether we might need an additional guide on a scheduled tour. We have always taken on everyone who chooses to show up and join us. We also know that no one likes to tour in a really big group.

We strongly recommend reserving in advance if coming as a group of 6 or more. If you have a group of 15 or more, we are able to conduct a dedicated tour just for your group. You get to choose a date and time that’s most suitable. Just go to “Bespoke Tour” to send in your request. Two weeks’ notice is appreciated.

Is there a Minimum Requirement?

Yes. For half day tours, and as we consume food during our tours, a minimum number of participants ensure that there is a variety of dishes to sample as well as keep food wastages low.

We require a minimum of 5-6 participants before a tour commences; depending on the tour.

Do note that we will advise you over email by 1pm before the day of the tour, in event of tour cancellation, so do check your email inbox before heading down. You can also call us at our hotline (65) 62477340, to check on our tours schedule.

Meeting Point and Directions

The Meeting Point and Directions for our tours can be found together with the tour details. All tours begin at or near MRT stations. Most tours do not end where they began. Our guides will provide directions to nearest MRT stations, your next destination, or back to the meeting point at the end of the tour.

Hotel pick-up is currently not available for our scheduled “show up” tours. Pick-up is available for “Create-your-Tours” or group tours. Fees apply, contact us for enquiries.

How to Recognize the Guide?

Our guides will be sitting with your ride! You can‘t miss a convoy of vintage vespa sidecars.

What if the Guide isn’t at the meeting point?

You are either at the wrong meeting point or have arrived after the scheduled tour timing. Our guides usually wait an additional 5 minutes in case of latecomers. Our guide not-showing rarely happens. If in doubt, please call our hotline (65) 62477340.

Rain/Inclement Weather

Sideways tours run, come RAIN or SHINE. In the event of inclement weather, please call our hotline (65) 62477340, 30 minutes before the tour, to confirm our schedule. Sideways.sg reserves the right to cancel tours in the event of inclement weather.

Private Tours

All tours are available as well as customisable for private bookings. Private tours can be scheduled morning, afternoon or evening. We have led tours for as few as a single person or as many as 100 people. There are fee minimums for private tours. Time & Distance

Our tours last approximately 4 hours; with exception to Joo Chiat / Katong Food Walk (6 hours). Our tours start ON TIME. We either walk about 3km or kick scooter 5km during these 4 – 6 hours, with stops at various sites during the tour.

Attire & What to Bring

Light tropical clothing is recommended along with comfortable walking shoes. Bring along an umbrella / poncho and a bottle of water. Don’t forget your curiosity and a big smile!

Toilets

We do not normally stop for toilet breaks during our tours. However, most of our tours do begin or pass-by near public toilets or restaurants in which there are toilets.

Cellphones

Please turn ringers & alerts to silent mode or turn them off so as not to disturb others on the tour.

Video / Audio Taping & Note Taking

Betel Box Tours does not permit video or audio taping of any kind unless permission is granted. We strongly discourage note taking. When taking still photographs, please be considerate of others in group as well as those on the street you may be photographing.
